Miracles are all around us every day just waiting
to move from the heavenlies into the now.
This is much easier to believe when you haven’t experienced times that a miracle you were contending for didn’t come. The pain and anguish this brings can at the minimum cause confusion, and at the max, it can cause you to doubt your faith.
Many of the “greats”, who would never call themselves great, doubted as well. Mother Theresa struggled, as did the theologians Charles Spurgeon and Martin Luther. Billy Graham had thoughts racing through his mind such as, "is the Bible really the inspired word of God?”.
Yes you read that right. Billy Graham struggled.
The story says that Billy was struggling with the Bible; not his belief in the God of the Bible just of the inspired word of God.
He’d pray, “O God! There are many things in this book I do not understand. There are many problems with it for which I have no solution. There are many seeming contradictions. There are some areas in it that do not seem to correlate with modern science…”
But this is why it's called faith. It's a leap.
It’s a decision to believe without any proof that you can see. As for Billy, he chose to believe despite all the doubts. For some intellectuals this is a struggle. They need to see everything, to see proof to have faith.
Like Billy Graham we all must make the leap of faith. John 20:29 finds Jesus telling Thomas “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” We must remember that this scripture comes right after Jesus appears again to his disciples, seemingly just for Thomas, because he invited Thomas to put his hand into his side. Sometimes we get to have the answers but often we only get the opportunity to see by faith.
Billy Graham came to this conclusion walking in the woods with his Bible. “Father, I am going to accept this as Thy Word—by faith! I’m going to allow faith to go beyond my intellectual questions and doubts, and I will believe this to be Your inspired Word!”
Miracles are all around us every day
just waiting to move from the heavenlies into the now.
Some you grabbed onto the above declaration right away. For others it still stings but if you are willing, leave the sting of a missing miracle with God and allow him to heal your heart. Choose to step towards Him in faith, despite what you did or didn’t see happen.
Philippians 3:12-14
"I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of me to make me his own. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus."
Let me be clear this is not a unintelligent faith. This faith of ours is of Godlike intelligence, which at times our mortal minds cannot grasp.
This is my challenge to you. Let's fasten our hearts to the future and not the past. Let's dare to beleive that miracles are all around us, just waiting to move from the heavenlies to the now.
Declaration: Miracles are all around me TODAY just waiting to move from the heavenlies into the now. Holy Spirit, I'm available work through me.
